Todd Deklyn was born and raised in Norwalk. From an early age, Todd had to shuffle back and forth across town between his parents’ houses. While this made for a challenging childhood, Todd was able to make new friends across Norwalk along with his friends at school. Todd attended Rowayton, Roton and Brien McMahon schools and graduated from Norwalk Community College with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies before continuing his studies at UCONN Stamford. Todd has two children in Norwalk Public Schools where he is an active volunteer, including participating on the School Governance Council. Todd works for the Town of New Canaan Parks Department where he is the Assistant Superintendent of Parks.
Todd is very engaged in the Norwalk community where he has served as a volunteer member of the Rowayton Fire Department for the past 27 years and as the Fire Chief for the past 7 years. Every year, Todd takes great pride working with the annual Rowayton Fire Department toy drive where the members collect toys and other gifts for the Carver Community Center in town. Todd is also a member of the Darien Fire Department where he has served for 21 years. He previously served as a Fire Chief for the Darien Fire Department and now serves on the Board of Trustees, as a fire commissioner for the past 17 years and as chairman for the past 4 years.
Todd is also a coach at Brien Mcmahon High School where he has been coaching baseball for the past seven years and hockey for the past three years. Todd was initially a volunteer baseball coach before becoming a JV coach for three years and head coach for the JV team for the last two years. Todd has been coaching the McMahon hockey team for the past three years and became head coach this year. Todd also helps coach youth hockey at Sono Ice House and is on the board for the Rowayton Little League. Todd wanted to help kids at the youth and high school levels after he played baseball, hockey and soccer for Brien McMahon where he was a three sport captain. Todd also played baseball in college where his team won a national championship.
As a parent and coach of many sports in the city, Todd is very dedicated to the education and quality of the fields, parks and buildings in Norwalk. With so many fields and playgrounds around the city, Todd would like to see more attention brought to the less maintained fields and parks so the kids around the city have all the great experiences in playing and taking pride in the city where they live.
